Animal Shelter Supplies Needed

The MCHS Ladies of Leadership club will be working on a service project to help the local Animal Shelter.  Projects include hand-made toys, beds, blankets, and bandanas that say “Adopt me” for the animals.  In addition, we will me making crafted mason treat jars that the shelter can sell for additional funding.  Quality dog/cat food or snacks are requested by the shelter.

We are requesting help with items in new/used good condition anytime for the month of January. If you can donate items, then go to this Signup Genius Link to let the Ladies of Leadership know you can help.

Toy Drive

The Student Government is hosting a Holiday Toy and Book drive to benefit the Helping Hand Mission in Raleigh. Donated toys, board games, and books can be lightly used or brand new! Donations should be given to your third block class, and third blocks that participate will be rewarded based on the amount of items donated. The drive is beginning now, and will be over December 16th!

Wanted: Someone who knows how to party

Do you know how to have fun? Do you have good party planning skills? We are looking for a few fun people to take over one of the longest standing traditions at MCHS…the Honor Roll Breakfast. After this year, Carman and I will no longer be running this event. At our next breakfast on March 2, we would like to have 2 or more people work along with us to plan and put on the breakfast. This position allows you to work with administrators, staff, parents and students, is limited to 3 times per year, and is just fun. Working with a friend makes it even more fun. Help keep this tradition going. Please contact Sue Scarlett at for more information.

Honor Roll Breakfast – Dec. 1st

Report cards have gone home and it is time to celebrate at the first Honor Roll Breakfast of the year. The students will enjoy Krispy Kreme doughnuts, assorted snacks, fruit and juice. Each breakfast will conclude with a drawing of gift cards to the places our kids love to go.

The first Honor Roll Breakfast of the year is set for December 01. We are in need of volunteers and gift cards for the prize drawing. This event is a favorite Mustang tradition and it only happens because of the support of parents like you. Every donation of time, snacks, or gift cards is appreciated.

Please take a look and see if you can help.

In Need for a Host of a Middle Creek Foreign Exchange Student

My name is Sherri Brown and I am an advisor for Borderless Friends Forever. I supervise foreign exchange students while they attend an American high school for an academic year. Occasionally we need to move students mid-year. This is why I am reaching out to the PTSA. I have 17 year old male student (Paulin) from France that is attending Middle Creek High School and he is in need of a new host family. Since spending time celebrating our holidays are an important part of the student’s year abroad we would like to have the student moved if prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Paulin is avid rock climber. He also enjoys water sports and playing the guitar. He hopes to study engineering at a university once he completes high school. Paulin is very bright and inquisitive. He is taking honors courses at Middle Creek High School and performing at a high level.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you

Adult Volunteers needed Saturday, November 12

AM AND PM for the Stampede for Excellence 10th Annual Auction:

The Stampede Club committee volunteers and parent reps have been working hard to get great items for this year’s auction and making sure that the evening is going to be one that will be remembered for many years to come! We need the help of some adult volunteers for set up on Saturday morning and a few important positions on Saturday night. Please contact Amy Love at right away to volunteer.  Thank you for helping to make sure this night is a great success for our school.
PS: Wear your MCHS apparel or RED/BLACK to the event!

Delivery Drivers:  Saturday morning set up will begin at Keeley Williams house at 830am.  We will caravan to the school with loads of all the awesome items our procurement team and our athletic teams have put together!  Please make sure you have room in your car so we can do this as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Set up crew:  We will be wrapping and dressing tables, putting together balloon bouquets, putting the Heart Gallery (photos) together, creating a “red carpet runway”, and setting silent auction baskets up on the tables.  Many hands make the load light!  Please plan to arrive at the school anytime after 9, the more help we get the quicker this will all go!
Check In/Check Out table:  Saturday evening we will need 4 adults to work at our check in/check out tables.  I have created a Google Doc Spreadsheet that we will utilize so that everything will be updated in real time as the evening progresses.  This will enable us to streamline the process for checkout and for our guests to check their totals spent throughout the evening and also inquire to see if they’ve won a particular item on the silent auction.
Verifyer:  I need 1 adult volunteer to be my final checkpoint before guests leave with their items.  This person will have access to the Google Spreadsheet and do the final check to make sure that the guests have paid for and received all the great items they purchased at the auction. Student volunteers will pull the items and bring them to you before they valet the items to the guests cars in the roundabout.
Bid Spotters:  I need 2 people to be bid spotters to work with Geri, our auctioneer.  They should know the  crowd and not be afraid to get in the action, encouraging people to get those paddles up and keep the bidding war alive!  Please be at the school at 5:00pm to meet with the auctioneer prior to the start of the event.
Attendants:  I need two adult volunteers for two special tables which will have a spinning wheel with prizes and a 52 card draw for a large ticket item.  This would require this person to remain at this station for the duration of the event. 5:30-8:30 approx.

Why we do what we do

Each year the PTSA funds scholarships to the SAT Prep Class held here at MCHS. These are need-based scholarships provided to our students as part of our mission to make sure that each student gets his best chance for academic success. So far, we have awarded two scholarships for 2016/17. Here is what those two students had to say about receiving this scholarship:

“I come from a military home. Parents work hard for what I have. The extra money is not used for SATs, so this money will help out a lot.”

“I feel like this prep course will benefit me a lot. I like learning and I’m very motivated to do so. I think I’ll be able to find the right college with this course…I feel like this SAT course will let me reach my education goals.”

Scholarships to the SAT Prep Class are just part of how we put your membership dues and your donations to work in our school. Please Join. Volunteer. Donate. Make a difference today.

We need Santa Claus!

MCHS PTSA is looking for a kind gentleman to volunteer as our Santa at the Craft Fair on Saturday, November 05. Parents love to take their own pictures of their kids with Santa and avoid the drama of the mall. We love to have something so fun and festive happening at our event. The only thing missing from the picture? SANTA. Our usual volunteer is unable to attend this year. Can you help?

OMG! We need baked goods. Can you help?

Every year at the craft fair, one of the most popular stops is the PTSA BAKE SALE. We are in need for baked goods. Please consider donating treats for us to sell on the big day.

Items should be individually bagged and labeled, ready for sale. We will offer goodies in ziploc baggies for $1. Cookies, candy, bars, flavored popcorn…anything you and Betty Crocker can imagine. We will offer containers of one dozen cookies for $5. Fill an inexpensive decorative tin with a dozen treats (clearly labeled) and feel good about supporting academics at MCHS.

The most popular items at our BAKE SALE are always whole cakes and pies. We sell out of them every year. If the holiday spirit strikes, bake up your favorite recipe and bring it to the fair. We would love to offer a variety of cakes and pies for sale at $10. Again, these should be clearly labeled and ready for a shopper to take home. We will not be able to return any plates or platters.

We need supplies for the drink table, items to prepare the raffle baskets and decor of all kinds to create a winter wonderland. Take a look at the sign up for a complete list.

You may drop off your donations at MCHS in the Commons on Friday, November 04 from 6:00 to 7:30pm. You may also bring your donations to the Commons on Saturday, November 05 from 7:30 am to 9:30am.

All of our proceeds from this event benefit academic programs at MCHS. Your continued support of academic excellence at Middle Creek is very much appreciated.
