Magazines with topics dealing with food, lifestyle, beauty, home decor, gaming, sports and motorsports are in high demand. Donations can be dropped off at the media center anytime between 7:00am and 3:30pm Monday-Thursday, or sent in with students.

Design Camp projects challenge students to explore their creativity and critical-thinking skills while pushing them to try a range of techniques and media. The exploration of the design process teaches students to question, make choices, generate alternatives, work collaboratively and ultimately broaden their understanding of the world around them.

Camp participants work with camp faculty on projects involving each of the following design disciplines: architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design, art + design and graphic design. In addition to studio projects, students participate in other activities all aimed at stimulating their creativity and deepening their understanding of the design field.

Wake County Public Libraries is hosting its 7th Annual Teen Poetry Contest.

Bust out your best and submit it online at Wake Country Public Libraries Student Poetry Contest. Entries  must be in by March 15th.

Explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Teaching Careers! This day of exploration will allow students to catch a glimpse of the experiences they would encounter as a student in a STEM Education major at NC State University. Some highlights of the event include the opportunity to explore with hands-on and interactive sessions with members of the College of Education faculty and staff, meeting current College of Education students and the chance to learn more about the prestigious STEM Education programs available at NCSU.

FAFSA Day is a program offered by College Foundation of North Carolina. On FAFSA Day, college financial aid officers and other volunteers will help students complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms. The program is open to students who plan to attend college in the 2012-13 academic year.

Our last Honor Roll Breakfast was a –HUGE– success. Middle Creek produced 749 students who made the list! A big, Big, BIG thank you to the teachers at Middle Creek for engaging the students and making this happen. Another big, BIG thank you to Carman Web who spearheads this project and to all the volunteers that worked hard to make it happen.

Here we are again, ready to make it happen for our second semester honor roll inductees. We will be celebrating on Thursday, Feb 23rd. Our intent is to demonstrate to our young scholars that their hard work is noticed and their dedication appreciated. It takes a great deal of effort to earn a place on the Honor Roll.

Parents, how can you help? We always welcome volunteers to come in the day of the event and help coordinate the task of feeding over 700 students. You can also help by donating non-perishable items. Every dollar we save allows us to purchase one more gift card to honor a few chosen students. We like to give a big shout out to McDonald’s at Ten-Ten and Kildaire Farm Road, who has always supported our honor roll breakfast.

We also like to give a shout out to Coffee and Crepes at Crossroad in Cary, who will be providing freshly prepared Crepes at this semester’s event.

To date, the Middle Creek High Donor Choose projects has successfully completed one of its projects, (document camera for Biology), thanks to people like you and matching donations from Chase, ClearChannel, and Doonesbury.

Ms. Hansen is still in need of an LCD projector to enhance the experience of learning algebra (and you know how dry algebra can be). Help make it a reality by donating  at the Middle Creek High Giving Page.

If you are a parent wanting to choose a new school for your child to attend next year, you have until February 24th. If you are a parent who wants to change schools for next year, you may log onto the student assignment website, assignment.wcpss.net, investigate your options and make your choices.
