Time Management for Teens: Surviving School Year Commitments

Time management isn’t just for adults at work. The first few months of a new school year see many parents struggling to support their preteens and teens as they balance homework and school projects with clubs, sports, music, drama, volunteering, work—and just being a middle or high school kid!

Juggling all of these activities can be overwhelming for teens—and parents—and it’s easy to see why teens can sometimes feel anxious or depressed.

You can help your teen avoid having an emotional breakdown by fostering a strong relationship that encourages open and honest communication.

3 Reasons Your PSAT Score Matters

Achieving a high score on the PSAT can take a lot of stress out of the college admissions and financial aid process.

Most high school students are familiar with the SAT and spend considerable time getting ready for the exam. However, before they ever sit for the SAT, many will take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, a standardized test cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Many take this test without doing anything to prepare. Unfortunately, students often assume the exam is just a practice test that doesn’t have any real value since college admissions offices do not use the score to assess applications.

While it is true that the score is not a factor like the SAT and ACT in admissions decisions, a good performance on the PSAT is still crucial. There are three very important reasons your score matters.  Click here to read more…

Teacher Luncheon – A Great Way to Appreciate Our Teachers!

Luncheons are a great way to express thanks to teachers. The PTSA recognizes that teachers work hard and deserve an afternoon spent enjoying a nice, thoughtful meal.

Our first staff luncheon will be a Mexican Fiesta on September 28th.  All food must be delivered to the MCHS media workroom by 10 am on this day.  Please mark your donations MCHS Teacher lunch and bring in a disposable container if possible.  If you need your container returned, please label with your name.  It will be washed and left in the media work room for pick up.  Please let the staff in the media center know if your item needs to be refrigerated.  Non-food items can be delivered to the media work room prior to the day of the luncheon.

If you have any questions please email Tonya Brady at tbrady1@nc.rr.com.  The teachers and staff are so very appreciative for your support.

On Student Liasons

The PTSA is an alliance of Parents, Teachers and Students working to enhance the academic environment of our school. Student involvement is vital to the success of our mission as the Academic Booster Club of MCHS. Student members of the PTSA are invited to serve as Student Liaisons.
Student Liaisons earn volunteer hours and gain a deeper understanding of leadership in a non-profit, volunteer organization.  If you know a dependable student looking for an opportunity to become more involved at Middle Creek, serving as a Student Liaison could be the perfect fit.The MCHS PTSA offers a variety of ways for Student Liaisons to volunteer. Students can contribute to our newsletter or help at our events, and even have opportunities to design their own volunteer projects in support of our goals of academic success for all students at Middle Creek.

Welcome To The Team Markita!

MCHS PTSA is happy to welcome Markita Keaton to our leadership team. As our Vice-President, Markita will join us in working to make sure that  all of the  students at Middle Creek have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

Now that Markita has joined the Board, our leadership team is almost complete. All of our committees have chairpersons in place and the only missing piece is the volunteer who can serve as our President. The President of MCHS PTSA puts together the agenda for our monthly meetings and serves as a liaison to MCHS administration. For just a few hours a month, you can make a real difference at our school.
To learn more about MCHS PTSA, please make plans to drop by our table in the lobby at Meet the Teacher Night. This is an easy opportunity to join, to volunteer and to donate to your Academic Booster Club. If you are already a member, please take a moment and cast your vote to approve our budget.
We look forward to seeing you there!
