Parent Academy Workshops

The Wake County Public School System will launch the 2013-14 Parent Academy series on Tuesday, August 20. The free sessions offer parents tools to support their children’s learning.

The series of workshops will cover topics including information on special education, the Common Core and Essential Standards, financial aid basics, and more.

For more information and to sign up, visit the Wake County Public School System’s website.

No Parking on Optimist Farm Rd

noprkngNew lane changes on Optimist Farm Rd at West Lake Rd will allow westbound drivers in the far right lane to go straight or turn right. This will increase the capacity at the intersection, and in turn should reduce traffic backups. This new traffic pattern eliminates room for students to park along side Optimist Farm Rd.

PTSA Helps Fund 2nd AP Biology Course

apbiologyIf you haven’t heard, Middle Creek is ranked the #1 High School in Wake County and #7 in the State. which is measured by College Readiness. I’m proud to be part of a school that cares for my child’s education and I’m very proud of the commitment of our students.

But success always brings challenges. Due to increased enrollment in AP courses, Middle Creek is now able to offer 2 sections of AP Biology next year (this is really good news!)  Unfortunately, to meet the needs of those 53 students, the school needs more resources than could be afforded by Wake County. So the PTSA will help fund those extra resources, (books and materials),  to bring the second AP Biology class to Middle Creek.

We would like to thank everyone who donated over the past year. We couldn’t have done it without you. – Your Academic Booster Club.

Top of the Lot Raffle – Winners Choice

As you know, the PTSA is raffling off the best spot in the lot for next year. Parking space 91 was selected as the winning spot largely because of its proximity to the front doors. Well, it turns out our students have different ideas about what makes a parking space the best one in the lot. In response to student feedback we are making a big change to the Top of the Lot Raffle.

That’s right! The student holding the winning raffle ticket will be able to choose his or her own parking space for the 2013-14 school year! The winner’s selection must be approved by MCHS administration, as some spots in the lot are held in reserve, but there are many prime spots waiting to be chosen by our winner. Where do you want to park?

Ticket sales continue this week at lunch in the Commons. All other rules still apply. One ticket is $3 and 5 tickets are $10.

The winning ticket will be drawn at Ruckus Restaurant on May 14. Eligible students who are present at Ruckus by 6:45 on May 14 will receive a free raffle ticket.

Don’t miss the chance to choose the best spot in the lot!
