A great, big career and technical education SHOUT OUT to Middle Creek High School’s Digital Career Academy students, who took home eight first-place showings in the North Carolina SkillsUSA Competition on April 18-20 in Greensboro!
Middle Creek students took first place (gold medals) in 3D Visualization and Animation, Broadcast News, Community Service, Engineering Technology Design, Interactive Application and Video Game Design, Adobe Video Design, Skills Showcase (Digital Media) and Skills Showcase (Engineering) competitions. They also placed second in five categories and third in four categories.
Fourteen Middle Creek students will be among those representing the state of North Carolina at the national competition this summer in Louisville, KY.
Middle Creek teacher Wes Petty received the North Carolina SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year. And teacher Luis Maldonado will be recognized as the Career and Technical Outstanding Educator of the Year at the national conference.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry that encourages the development of personal, workplace and technical skills needed to succeed. Annual competitions are held for middle and high school students in dozens of professional and technical categories.
